Beaches = sand, sun, sea and some very happy holidaying Grants.
We headed off to Byron Bay this morning, where we took in the beach and had a look around the shops. I found two very lovely beachy shops and chose two lovely summery dresses, which I bought. It is so very hot and humid here, that the light, floaty dresses appealed. I know they will have to be put away when we get back to chilly Melbourne later on, but there we are.
Byron Bay is lovely and the beach is so inviting...but many, many other people thought so too, so we decided to head on up to Brunswick Heads and have a swim there instead. We did have lunch under a shady tree in Byron though, which was cool and refreshing. We also went for a drive up to the lighthouse, which offers several lookouts and spectacular views.
Brunswick Heads proved to be the better choice for swimming and, though full of like minded people, was not as crowded as Byron. We spent part of the afternoon splashing in the waves and soaking up the sun. A blue bottle came floating by, but some other helpful fellow took it out of the water and so no harm was done. Callum and Andrew said they spotted some baby sharks in the waves, but they disappeared pretty quickly (both the sharks and the boys from the water!). This was our cue to move on, which we did, back to home base.
Tomorrow, the Gold Coast...
