Day 74: A house! A house! Our caravan for a house!

In a house, in Glen Innes

Now I know that my children have learnt to appreciate the simple things in life.

We have moved on from Tamworth, caravan safely stored, to Glen Innes. Here we are in a cabin house, which is very much like a very little house with a little lounge, dining room and open plan kitchen, separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Andrew's eyes have been gleaming with excitement and joy ever since he entered it, and has declared that he wants to live here forever!

The TV is bigger than the one in the van and both children went into paroxysms of ecstacy at the sight of it, compounded by the fact that it is digital and picks up a whole lot of channels. Behind the cabins are some very large rocks that one can slide down on cardboard. This too caused great excitement amonst the ranks and that is where they entertained themselves for a while.

Glen Innes itself is really very small. We walked from here to the town centre and back again, just to have a look around. It is very reminiscent of Grahamstown, actually. We are here for two nights, so tomorrow will be spent taking in the sights and perhaps doing a walk.

The drive from Tamworth to Glen Innes is about 200km, so not a big trip. We left Tamworth twice. The first time we managed to get 25km from town before I remembered that we had not left the fridge open in the van, or put out the Damp Rid. After a week all closed up, it is going to be a bit icky, so we had to go back and take care of that. Annoying, but what can you do?

We had a stop in at Uralla and Armidale on the way through, but there isn't much there that is touristy, so we didn't linger.
