Did you know that people can only reverse into parking places on the main road in Tamworth? It is so weird - they have painted all the lines slanting in the opposite direction, so people have to reverse park. Amazing.
Anyway, yesterday I decided it is time to do another cross-stitch project, so our walk in town last evening was also to scout for shops where one might buy cross-stitch kits. This morning we walked into town again (all of us this time) and stopped in a bookshop where Andrew was rather taken with a paper plane model kit and decided that he also wants to do somthing creative. This one was too complex, so we said we would look out for others.
The 'Handy Hands' shop had some cross-stitch kits, but nothing that really grabbed me and were either too big or too old fashioned/horsey/beary/full of fairies and flowers for my liking. Googling Spotlight stores, I discovered that there was one down the road. We headed out there later in the day and I bought three great little kits, which will keep me busy for a while. Andrew found a wooden plane model to glue together and paint, so we got that too. He started on it this afternoon and so far has done an excellent job of gluing all the bits together. The best bit was that everything in store was 20% off today. Bonus!
In the early afternoon Duncan and I spent quite a bit of time pouring over maps and holiday park books in an effort to plan our way ahead after Glen Inness. We reached several conclusions about our timing of things with regards to school holidays. If we wait until the end of next week before hitting the Gold Coast, things will be a lot quieter there. So, we have decided to stay here in Tamworth for a few more days. It is the Easter weekend afterall (a bad time to be on the roads) and there are lots of things to do here - walks and stuff like that.
We have also discovered, much as Duncan expected, that the holiday parks in those popular areas really pack em in, and the sites are often quite small. Too small for our beautiful van. Anyway, we have some ideas of what we are going to do, and we will get onto making some firm arrangements on Saturday.
This evening the boys and I went for a very refreshing swim in the pool. No one else was as crazy as us, so we had it to ourselves. Lovely.
Good Friday tomorrow...
